The West Coast Hospital Redevelopment Partnership Group has welcomed the Minister of Health’s announcement of additional funding for the new Grey Base Hospital and Integrated Family Health Centre.

‘We’re committed to delivering this new facility for the people of the West Coast and the additional funding ensures construction can begin on Tuesday,’ Partnership Group Chair Cathy Cooney says.

‘The additional funding means we have not had to reduce the scope of the hospital to bring it back within its original budget.

‘I’d like to thank the community and the staff of the West Coast District Health Board for their patience during the process to achieve price certainty. Now we have clarity on costs, we can get on and build this great new facility for the people of the West Coast.’

The new facility is expected to open in the first quarter of 2018.

The West Coast Hospital Redevelopment Partnership Group provides governance and oversight for the project. The Group is appointed by the Minister of Health and is made up of three independent members and the Chair of the West Coast District Health Board.
